NEW VET TO THE TEAM

Dr Andrew Levien BVSc (Hons)

Balmain Veterinary Hospital welcomes our new vet Dr Andrew Levien. He has joined us in September 2007. He has graduated University of Sydney in 2006 and began practice at the foothills of the Blue Mountains/Hawkesbury region before starting at Balmain Veterinary Hospital. Andrew still works for Racing NSW in his spare time as he has a strong passion for horses. His interests are very broad and include internal medicine, surgery and dermatology.

NEW VETs TO THE TEAM

Added 3/8/07

Dr Olivia Hassin joined us here at Balmain & Drummoyne Vet hospital in Januray 2007.
She was born and raised in Sydney and graduated from the University of Sydney in 2001. After finishing university she joined a mixed practice clinic at the foot hills of the Blue Mountains. After a couple of years, she moved to the U.K to work in a small animal practice and travel around the world. She is currently pursuing a Masters degree in Veterinary Medicine and surgery and the IVAS certificate in Veterinary Acupuncture, (which she has just started practicing here at the clinic). She lives with her fiance and two beautiful whippets. She brings much excitement to the clinic as she is planning her wedding for early Jan 2008!

Dr Steve Anich joined our team in March 2007. He started life in a sugar-cane town in far north Queensland. He went to Queensland University and graduated in 1998, working first in Ballarat and London before moving to Sydney in 1995. He has worked in small animal practices in Sydney since then, and a small clinic in Singapore. Almost everything in general veterinary practice fascinates Steve and he has a particular interest in surgery, dermatology, dentistry and the care of senior pets.

NEW KITTEN KINDY CLASSES!!

FIRST TIME EVER AT BALMAIN!!!!!!

We were thrilled to recently host our first ever "Kitten Kindy" on Tuesday the 24th April and May 1st 2007. The class was hosted by two of our senior "cat lover" nurses, Morgan & Wendy, and was lots of fun - as well as very cute!

The classes were attended by six kittens in total, ranging in age from 10 weeks to 7 months. All the babies were well behaved, and even tried out a bit of social interaction with each other! It was great for all our kitty owners to learn about the social lives of cats, and how to deal with those annoying cat problems indoors. It was also a great way for a group of cat lovers to get together and share some experiences and knowledge.

A big thank you to Storm, Rogue, Lily, Bagette, Kira and Kitten for supporting kitten kindy.

Baby “ZARA”

Some of you may remember Dr Peter Lee who used to look after our Drummoyne Clinic. He jet-setted of to Hong Kong with his wife Natasha in February of this year to start a new life in the big city.

We are pleased to announce the birth of their daughter Zara Quinn on the 9th of October. We wish the new family all the best.

Baby “AIDAN”

Our senior vet nurse Claire Parnwell has given birth to a beautiful baby boy. Claire and partner Brendon welcomed Aidan Oliver into the world on the 26th of May, 2007.

Both Claire & Aidan are well and we expect to see Claire back with us in the near future.
