Puppy Preschool

What is Puppy Preschool and why do we need it?

The crucial learning and socialisation period for dogs is when they are between the ages of 8 and 16 weeks. It is during this time that Puppy Preschool can provide the tools to start your pup off on the right track and add to your enjoyment as a pet owner.

With a maximum of 6 puppies in each class, and our customised training area providing a safe and fun environment, our Puppy Preschool classes aim to provide:

  • General health care advice - diet, exercise, grooming
  • Training and obedience - basic commands.
  • Socialisation/interaction - with people and other dogs.
  • Toilet training advice - no more 'oops'!
  • Familiarisation with the hospital - making visits less stressful.
  • Settling and calming techniques
  • Troubleshooting - addressing any issues such as mouthing/biting.
  • Tricks and games.

So what happens at Puppy Preschool?

Our Puppy Preschool course consists of five, one-hour classes held each week. Classes focus on socialisation opportunities and many different training commands are taught each week.

WEEK 5 - Puppies to attend on-lead with owner(s).
GRADUATION! Similar to previous classes, PLUS a 'Graduation Pack' containing product samples and Certificate of Graduation. Celebratory champagne will be served.

When and where are they held?

Both weekday and weekend classes are held at our Drummoyne Clinic.

How do I enrol?

The only pre-requisite for Puppy Preschool is that your puppy must have had their first vaccination before enrolling. We do need to see proof of this, so please make sure you bring your pup's vaccination certificate along to the first class. To enrol, you need to contact either the Balmain Hospital or Drummoyne Clinic to find out when the next class is going to be held and make a booking. Your place in the class will not be confirmed until you have paid in full for the course. As classes fill quickly it is advised that payment is made at the time of booking.

Classes are held on Monday and Tuesday nights from 7pm to 8pm and on Saturdays from 10am to 11am.

How much does Puppy Preschool cost?

The five-week course that we offer costs $150 (including GST).
